    As opposed to cycloseris or maybe even diaseris? I just think it's too small to tell since these genera are very similar visually.

    Could possibly grow out to be cycloseris, but I would doubt it. Those have a raised mound in the middle when full grown, but hard to tell right now.

    Did you mean diaseris fragilis? I would highly doubt it.

    I think we can just agree that it is a Fungiidae, and is one cool HH :)

    I believe some fungia species have the raised dome as well which makes it really confusing.
    Yeah Diaseris Fragilis is one of the species, I believe there are others too if my memory serves (which it very well might not!).
    I recently got the Corals of the World books by Veron so I've been going through those and trying to practice ID'ing things to see if I can get the hang of the major distinguishing features, unfortunately it seems more often than not there are no major distinguishing features! It's a lot of picky little skeletal details or something that can only be determined once you can view a decently sized colony, or even just judging by the environment it was collected from, ugh hehe.

    I agree that Fungia-like or Fungiidae works for me!

    :):) Me too. Good luck getting through the series, it was almost hard to put down sometimes, so much information :cheesy:

    that thing is growing like a weed now!...its easily 2 times the size it was when i first took the pic of it the other day!

    Yes and it eats mysis quite readily :)
