I am not having much luck with my fresh water 30 gallon planted tank.

I do weekly water changes & add VERY small amounts of nutrients each week. ( the flourish line )

I thought I had bought vallisneria, but it is not growing tall. It is just covering the surface of the gravel. Maybe it is hair grass. It sure spreads !

I have a sword plant, but it has not grown an inch taller & it has to be at least a year old.

I prune weekly & have the light on for 12 hours a day.

What am I doing wrong ?

Could what I am calling hair grass be duckweed ? It has small roots. Maybe it should be floating. I could certainly thin it out to give the planted onces a chance. One problem. my fliter pulls it in & I certainly don't want to plug the intake. That can cause a mess !

what type of substrate are you using? how much light and what type of lamps? when you say not much luck what do you mean (slow growth, algae, plants die, etc?) what are test kits reading? its hard to really help without knowing at least this info...
