Any opinions on this T5 HO light from eBay??

Anyone have one of these or any opinions as to the make of these? Looks like a really good deal to me if it is as advertised. Looking to upgrade on my 55g from a FOWLR with one T8 bulb to start throwing coral in it.

 

I had a similar version of this. Pretty sure the same company, mounts and other things are similar. CRAP. plus you'd need to upgrade the bulbs ASAP, so add $80-100 to that cost.

I had an identical light, but purchased it through another company. The light got really, really hot and the room smelled like hot plastic. I put ATI bulbs in it and they would randomly turn off.

In summary, you get what you pay for. It would work for a reef tank though.

 

I wouldn't trust it. You really do get what you pay for.

 

I consider a 55g to be a deep tank. For that reason, you do not want this light. It does not have individual reflectors..... and these make a HUGE difference in light penetration.

I definitely wouldn't risk it. You'd be better off getting a reefbreeders unit
