Need to raise skimmer/pump in sump about 1" -

Any known problems with using a styrofoam pad in sump area? - just thought I'd ask before using.

Question was if any reason, "...why not?"

    "why"..

Needed to raise skimmer and pump off base of sump by 1" - had a piece of styrofoam handy just the right height and size (besides providing a stable base for the skimmer/pump on sump bottom) - am sure there are other solutions. Was just wondering about this one.

But after further thought, seems styrofoam may start to break up over time, and don't want pieces of that stuff floating about tank.

    Will think of something else.

Use it all the time, no problems with it, other then your above concern. Those little balls suck!!! If you cut it, seal it with a heat source. I use a tool thats basicly designed for that purpose, its called a hot knife.
