    Will a Mandarin eat Amphipods, Because I got a bunch in my DT.

    i thought amphipods were to large for a mandarin to eat. i thought they ate copepods not amphipods? i dont have one thats just what i thought.

    I thought that to but I have from tiny amphipods to large full sized amphipods.
    They have just been multiplying like crazy, Well we will see for sure tomorrow. I'm going to get one for $20 from my LFS.

    I just got my Mandarin, I got a Spotted Mandarin. Thats the only one he had at the moment so I got it, I put him in my tank 15 mins later he eats a amphipod :eek:

    Yeah, the answer depends on the size of the mandarin and the size of the amphipod. A large adult mandarin may eat an adult amphipod, but most mandarins are too small to eat the adults. However, the adults will produce lots of tiny offspring which the mandarins will eat with great relish.

    Yeah mine is a baby 1" :) But I was surprised it eat a medium amphipod lol

    I'm thinking about buying copepods to put in my fuge, Can I do this or will my amphipods eat them or something? In my fuge I have caulerpa, That's also where I have my amphipods.
