ok so heres the story. i have a 1gal planted tank in my dorm room. i put an inch of peat in the bottom ( i think this is the culprit) then sand and gravel. fertilizer: .1mL of Flourish excel daily, .1mL of Flourish comprehensive after water change lights two plant lights (T8 17W each) which are high wattage. (the tank is under a grow strip, other house plants are under it also) The tank has been setup for 3 months now. Params: .25 ammonia .25 Nitrite .25Nitrate pH is 7.8 weekly water changes =50% (RO water) I want to add shrimp in a couple weeks when i upgrade to a 2.5 gal, but nothing is going in until i sort this out. I think it is the decomposition of the peat, which has been in the tank since the beginning. Can anyone confirm this, or have any other ideas?
