I have a clown, yellow tang and some snails in my tank.

Once a night I put a 2"x3" strip of nori on a tile and leave it in the tank. I feed the clown either pellets or a mysis/brine blend.

The nori is pretty much gone by the next night when I feed.

Also, is one feeding a day bad? The clown eats about 1/2 a cube.

Easy way to see if they can eat more is give them a little more and monitor feeding. As long as they are eating it the amount increase is ok. There is no real easy way to say you need to feed them more. Especially when we don't know the size of the fish as well.

You should not leave it in more than 24 hours, 12 would be better

It is pretty much gone by the 16 hour mark.

It's probably ok if it's gone by 16 hours, it could just spike your params if forgot for too long, especially nitrate. 1/2 a cube for a single clown seems like a lot, but if he shares that with the tang I don't think that's ridiculous however fish can only absorb so much nutrients in one feeding. If you can only feed them at night, it's best to spread the feeding out over an hour or longer IMO. Some time to digest the food can never hurt, else they may eat the food but not get any nutrients out of it and just poop it out.

The best way to tell if they are a good weight is, when the clown is looking at you head on, does he have:
    1. A round belly protruding out beyond the rest of his body
    2. A belly that's seamless with the rest of the fish
    3. a concave belly shape.

1, is over-weight, 2, is just right, and 3 is underweight.

I know its hard to see, but just take a good look at their bellies and you can tell if a fish is overweight. Most fish are gluttonous and will never refuse food unless physically filled up.
