This hobby is advancing so quickly that it is difficult to find a book that has been written and printed fast enough to keep current. But, there are some very good books out there and Sprung wrote a handful of them.

Sprung is a big name for a reason, it will have a lot of information about how the algae works on a microscopic level and more. I like getting info on the forums, but there is nothing like a book. My only critique....don't go jump for the first longspine you see b/c of this book.

No worries there. I'm not a big urchin fan.

I LOVE books..... but I don't find this one to be a very good reference, I'm afraid.

I wouldn't think of it as a reference, more of a pocket guide. It is a good afternoon read as a primer on algae.

keep an eye on ingtar for me, I suspect shenanigans :)
