    Hey all,

Question for you gurus. I've had this tank running about 2 years now and the last 6 months or so I keep getting this algae. It's red and has bubbles in it. I have been shortening the duration of the lighting which seems to slow it down, but I can't get rid of it. I us an RO/DI filter for all water, and even ran a phosphate reactor for a few months, but I could not tell any difference.

    Please give me some suggestions...

    Thanks,
    Rick

well you have nitrates and phosphates, i would make sure your rodi water is reading 0 on the tds..also make sure you have enough flow to keep the tank clean, i just rearranged my scape on my tank to allow for better flow and cleaner sand bed..

the algae you have is cyano i think..

That is cyanobacteria. Decrease nitrate and phosphates, increase flow in the affected area and through out the tank, increase your pH to 8.3.
