My tank has been cycling for 2 1/2 weeks. Ammonia dropped back to 0, Nitrite at 0.25 and nitrates are at 10.

I have a refugium with a piece of live rock and a ball of chaeto, and now it appears I have an algae bloom, both green and brown in there, I am perfectly happy with this happening in the sump an not the DT, but is this normal or common.

Yes its normal. It will probably spread to the main tank too. Its just part of the cycling process.

It's cycling and should go away on its own.

I like that you are adding a refugium from the start – so you get an A+ from me :)

As your tank is currently cycling I would not have suggested that you put anything into your refugium aside from sand and perhaps rock if you are planning any. Cheato is going to survive that cycle, I think that stuff would survive a nuclear bomb. They only detriment would be the loss of any pods and micro organisms that came with it….but they will be back in no time at all. Good luck with the new set up - looking forward to more pictures !

I did too...till it moved to the main tank LOL.
That will pass as well, though.

"I got you right where I want ya!" Let your sump be the dump.
