    i plan on changing my sand bed, i was just wondering if this would be a good time to add some more dry rock?

    tank is a year old

    Sure,actually you can add more dry rock to an established tank whenever you would like and you won't cause a cycle.On the other hand,disturbing a year old sand bed could stir up some nasty stuff and cause a mini cycle and possible rise in nitrates.

    oh thats really good to know, i do plan on taking everything out and putting it into a QT before removing the sand

    good luck! It is quite an undertaking to remove a sand bed. What size tank?
