adding algae to DT

    i have a 5g tank w/ 500w MH. most of the algae is telling me intenise lighting. my light is hanging about 10" from the DT. does any1 have a problem adding algae in this tank? i figured i asked you guys 1st cause there are only to places i trust for algae.

    If you have SPS the algae may slow them down or worse.. That is a huge amount of light for a 5 gallon tank. Should be more than enough to grow the algae.

    I'm assuming that's 50w of Mh? I think 500w would make the water boil lol. I agree with the above. What are you planning on keeping?

    Okay, that would also make sense lol. What do you plan on keeping for corals?

    i have some sofies and lps. i would like to get a couple sps but that wouldnt be farther down the line.
