    Don't quite agree with that one guru, I notice a significant decrease in algae when I shut my lights off for a day or two, which I am getting a lot of lately.

    sure, i agree, any algae in the tank will die with no light, including corals. but that doesnt mean the problem is gone. like i said its irrelevant, other items take precedence.

    Very true :). I know my phosphates are still high but have noticed the algae decrease.

    of course it will, but sooner of later your lights will be on, then what?

    i don't know :confused: I keep my lights on, they just go off for a day or 2 then back on for the corals.

    find the source then correct it by means of lowering nutrients. no worries. can adjust by means of a fuge, skimmer, carbon, gfo, and so on.

    Like I said it’s left over piece of equipment for my earlier saltwater go round. I don’t think I would buy one for a 14 gallon but I would for a larger tank. Makes the water crystal clear, more efficient skimming more O2 in the water kills pathogens etc.
