    Very well.

At least, once you make a handle for it to get the proper leverage without getting tired very quickly. ;D

I have a 150g acrylic and I'm very happy with it. You just have to be really careful when you're cleaning. It is easier to scratch than glass but if you're anal about your stuff like me:) then no problem. It's lighter and lasts longer than glass, just my opinion.

k, my final question. if i get a 40 gallon acrylic, what is the effec tthat my hanging 150w metal halide fixture is going to have centered ontop of the tank. Is the middle brace on the acrylic tank going to afffect how the light comes down into the tank?

6 of one half a dozen of another. They both have pros and cons. Most glass aquariums are tempered glass. Was installing a ac for glass co. Got to talking to the guy there, he tossed a hammer on a peice of tempered glass to prove it wouldn't bust. But he said you could just tap the edge and it would shatter. So a can head on wouldn't hurt.

most likely 6-10" above the tank. With a 40 gallon acrylic the height of the tank is 24" i think.

That's about right, I'm more concern about the affect of the heat from the bulb to the middle brace. I would incorporate a fan somehow to keep the bulb cool to avoid melting the brace.
