I trick I used to yank mine; if something has been recently glued down (acro frag) wait until the lights are out. It will then come out to eat whatever acro is closest to it. When you see the little bastard on the coral, yank the coral, grab him, and dispose. Then just simply reglue your stuff and watch it thrive.

Matter of fact I don't have any sps coral in that tank. The BoostLED par 38 bulbs can't handle it. I almost killed a moni frag. Now that frag is in my 90gal with T5s coming back to life.

Will the crab just die off, or will it feed on something else?

I had one of these hitchhike into my 25gal. He tore up 80% of a nice arco mini colony... He was banished to the pump chamber....

They will continue to feed off of detritus if there is nothing coral related they would prefer to eat.

This may be one of the guys you are referring to.
Let me google that for you

Ahahahha, I caught the little bastard! I woke up at 4:30 this morning and went into my fish room to check things out. I then found that my 90gal water level was off in my return. Make a long story short I changed one of my RO carbon filters yesterday, but forgot to turn the valve back on after my cartridge filters before going into the membrane, what and idiot. Anyways while I was babysitting my RO system I gave a little snack to my 54gal and my 29gal.

I looked back at my 54gal and I saw the crab out! After about 5min tried to get the crab and fighting off my damn clown fish I caught it. Suckers are quick underwater.

    Bye bye crab.
