Ack Hair. Really?

    Is this what I think it is? The hair is popping up all over the tank. Especially wherever I have purple or red coralline.

    The photo is very blurred David
    but to me those strands dont look like typical hair algea - they look to thick individually

    can you get a macro photo up - this would help with a proper ID

    I should add they are single strand everywhere else. Not branched like that one piece there.

    Looks more like turf algae.

    It is bryopsis. I got a lettuce snail for it today.

    i dont think its bryopsis. it would be more fern like. and did you get a snail or a lettuce nudi? is it only located in one part of the tank? is it spreading or growing fast?

    I spoke about it today at the local reef fish store. They immediately knew what I was talking about and took me over and pointed some out to me. Same looking stuff. Considering I get most my "pets" (fish and corals) from them it seems pretty feasible.

    Lettuce nudi. Cool looking guy. He is in a bag floating at the top acclimating at the moment.
