About an hour ago my tank started spouting a zillion bubbles thru the tank. Its an all in one red sea max. After taking all I could apart I concluded when the skimmer is off the bubbles start clearing up. I turned the skimmer down but didn't want to turn it off for a long period. Any offers of help out there on what I should do?

first make sure your water level is up?
If you inserted the carbon and media pack they are dirty and the water is not flowing through. We removed ours and put in live rock rubble, otherwise it will continue to happen, one major flaw in the RedSae in my opinion.

Yep, I added water as I learned early on if low, a zillion bubbles. I also took out the carbon and media and just use Live Rock. So, do the bubbles cause problems? Do they eventually go away?

Is your overflow adjusted to let water in quick enough? How long has it been running?

adding too much top off water at once, has the skimmer been through it's break in time and additions of certain chemicals will make it bubble too..

Ok, what is break in time for a skimmer? I haven't added any chemicals and I only had to add a gallon or so to get to the invisible line I've learned to top off the tank at to keep things going as they should. Usually it only takes about 15 minutes after adding water to settle everything back down but this has been going on for about 3 hours now.

    You are sucking air someplace...

Pump cavatating due to low water level?

    All hose connections tightned up?

    Skimmer air valve full on?

    Broken/punctured hose, connection?

May just have air in system that needs to get blown out...:-/

Is there a chance the pump came loose from the simmer and shooting bubbles under the skimmer?
