It had been 6 weeks since I last did a water change, but before I performed the WC I tested my water and my dkh was really low around 2.

So I did the WC which brought my dkh up to around 4. After which I slowly brought the dkh up to 8.5 over the next 4 days using a 4/1 ratio of Sodium Carbonate and 20 Mule Borax dissolved in ro/di water.

All of my corals are fine and most of the fish are ok. But now 2 of my 3 Purple Queen Anthias are MIA, and one of my female Leopard Wrasses has been on the bottom breathing very heavy while wedged next to rock for 2 days.

Anyone ever heard of a slow raise in dkh affecting fish?

I can see it making a difference. I've played around with my dKH and found LPS doesn't care for 14 or higher and my chalice likes it in the 12-13 range. I see the coral impacted on changes more than the fish.

BUT, I do notice the fish get slow until it stabilizes out.

Having said that, I can't fathom dKH getting to 2. Are you sure these tests are accurate? What's your pH like?
