Hi all! I am getting prepped to put together a 75 gallon tank. I am going to be using mostly the equipment I already have but I am wondering if my lights will be ok.

I currently have a current USA nova extreme t5ho 4 bulb 39w. It is 36" and the tank will be the standard 48. Will this be good for a reef tank? Or will I have algae problems?

Your probably going to want to get a 48" fixture so your tank will have even light end to end.

Since we are on the subject what kind of lights would you reccomend? I prefer to stay under 300$ and will be doing softies mostly maybe sps in the future.

Only reason I don't like led is the cost. I wouldn't be able to stay under 300 with leds.

If your going to do mostly softies then I don't we why you couldn't build a nice diy led setup for 300 or under.

I imagine I would be pretty lost on that but I might check into it.

I thought those Tao Tronics LED's were under $300 for the pair? I was going to use them in my 75 but ended up getting a 48" eight bulb T5 instead.
