Anyone have a calculator to figure out sand for a bow front? Aiming for 2 inches

Also is it best to do all live sand?

no some say you really dont need the live sand if your getting live rock but i did one bag of live sand in mine it will make the rest live sand over time.. 2 inches sounds shallow to me but i like my jaw fish so mines deep

Why not ask your LFS when your in there? I would guesstimate about 70-80 lbs would be fine just buy closer to 80 and you can always take some out if needed.

4 20 pound bags. It will give you a good 2 to 3 inch layer. I use their fuji pink brand.

    Thanks,

I went with 80 of the black I'll see if that's enough the pet store told me I would only need 25 pounds.

He bought 80 and the calculator suggests that for a tank 48X18. It is possible he used it or made one heck of a good guess.

    Good job on the post.

I did use the calculator. For 2inches on a 48 x 18 it is 82 pounds and on a 48 x12 it shows 54 pounds. The bow threw me off.

I went with 80. But now I'm thinking about going with a 3 inch layer. I have put it in yet. Should I get another 20 pounds or see where I'm at after I fill it with the 80?
