    Hi all,

I got a Six-line Wrasse for my tank a few days. So far he's doing great with my clowns, very active and always on the hunt for food, bright colors and healthy.

I have a curious question.. occasionally, he'd pause in mid-swim, tip over briefly on his side.. almost as if he's looking up or down (considering eyes are on the sides of his head). Is this normal behavior?

This is a "show" or display behaviour to exert dominance. Its very cute. Its basically called a "flash". Google it and you will see lots of videos on it! I think theres one called six line dance or something where they synced it with music. Mine does it all the time.

Its not him looking for pods. He is trying to show off his mighty size.

I will admit that looks peculiar. Not a typical behavior, but like people not all fish are the same. IMO it's a wait and watch. I see nothing definitive that would lead to an intervention other than moving the fish to a QT to wait and watch. Yeah good luck with that and a 6-line. Let us know how it turns out.

There is a lot of info online that in fact a six line flash is a pretty sterotypical behavior.

huh, interesting! That video is exactly what mine was doing! Considering I have two territorial clowns, it makes sense he's exerting his dominance!
