I guess this is a DIY so posted here, not under lights..

If you have the 48" REEF ODYSSEA 260WT POWER COMPACT, and this may work with others..

How to get more light, and save ALOT of work down the road..

Covering the lights is a sheet of 1/8 plastic.. Covered with a film that makes it look frosted..
After a couple months I started to remove mine and clean it.. AFTER lights-out..

Big Mess, the film had turned brittle, and was flakeing into my tank..
    Alot of big chunks..
I removed the sheet of plastic, it slides out one end, very easy..
Took it in the kitchen, used knives, sandpaper, etc.. And removed all of the film.... I laid wet paper on alot of the film, and it helped..
Now it's clear, more light comes thru.. And the light system still looks the same....
And you do know about the bubble wrap INSIDE the light fixture..??
LOL, I didn't... After useing for 2 or 3 months....
Took 4 to 6 hours Had to scrub each bulb,be sure to remove first..
There's 2 rubber bands on the end of each light, they break easy, I had to use one in places, still holds good..

This worked for me, and made my tank look much better..
    AND more light....

    Later, Larry

I have a film over mine as well. You can either scrape it off or cut a piece of thin acrylic yourself to replace it. And you are not the first to goof up on the bubble wrap!!!
