300 Gal. Marine Fish Only Tank

    Hello all.... I'am a new-be to 3reef. I have been in this hobby for the last 15 or so years. I have a tank built into living my room wall. This tank is a Acrylic 300 gal Marine (salt water) fish only. Resting on a home made 2"x6" wood framed stand. Lighting consisting of two (2) 175 Metal Halide Pendant Fixtures with two (2) built-in Actinic 03 Blue Compact Fluorescent Lamps. One Blue-Moon-Glow LED night light. All on dedicated power and timers. Home made Sump Consisting of two (2) semi ridged and clear Rubbermade bins linked in series with 3" PVC. A Nu-Clear Canister Filter with no pump, gravity only and filter media varies. I had a Red Sea Berlin Protein Skimmer but I changed it to a far better Euro-Reef Protein skimmer. Danner Mag-Drive Supreme 12 and 18 GPH Pumps (I only use these pumps, I feel the are the best.) on timers too. A converted Tetra Pond Clear Choice PF-2 Bio Filter with added bio-balls and this provides all three types of filtration an the cheap. It's just not as pretty as a Acrylic one. I have tried real Corals but I couldn't keep them alive with my poor husbandry skills and fish loads so Artificial Aquarium Decorations work just fine for me. My fish at the moment are very basic, lots of small active damsels, Tangs, Etc. but I have been through the gamit over the years.

    Welcome my fellow Floridian, but I do have one complaint. You cannot post a thread about a 300g tank and post no pics, this my friend, is against the law here. You have 48 hrs to produce such pics before your membership can be valid.;D
