    29 Gallon Nanocube: 150 Watt HQI-14,000k Question....

Need to replace bulb. I can get on ebay a 150 Watt HQI but 15,000k or 20,000k. I know "k" stands for kelvin and is a unit of measure.

How will 1,000k to 6,000k increase in kelvin affect my reef system?
Will it be hotter? I realy don't need anymore heat in my system.
Should I stay with the 14,000k?

Also, the light on ebay is $19.99 plus shipping. From JBJ it's $55 and up.

The heat difference will be nonexistent.

The K is just the color. A higher K gives you a bluer light.

I would stay away from Ebay lights. They are cheap for a reason.

My buddy bought a 400 watt metal halide bulb from ebay. He went for the cheaper approach instead of buying from a saltwater/reef website. And neither of us were pleased with the color it gave of... To put it simply the bulb was junk.
