At work we have a Glass Cages 240 gallon "Tall" (96"x18"x31") it blew the back out over the weekend. This tank has been in place for around three years without a problem.

    Defective?

I am going to have to order another tank with these dimensions.

    Thanks.

    Welcome to 3reef Gunrunner.........
It's a possibility....... Probability??????? What did you have in the tank? You sure that no l/r shifted/slid/fell? Did you see any signs of any failure at all prior?

Fresh water fish, we are a Wastewater Treatment Plant. We fill the tank with our Effluent (what we discharge to the river).

It did not shift, the stand is well built and is on a level poured concrete base.

One of my employees reported a small puddle around an hour prior to the MASSIVE failure.

    Thanks

What is the glass thickness on that tank? Just asking because it looks extremely thin for that sized tank. Is it possible this was actually a terrarium and not an aquarium?

I just measured it. 1/2" thick.

Wow...That makes me sad. Unfortunately, I don't have a clue what the warranty is for Glass Cages tanks. I would call them.

Last I heard, there is no warranty from them.

That IMHO is the only downfall to GC.

1/2" glass should have been plenty for that build. Was it braced in any fashion on top?

That's insane. I've never seen a tank wall explode like that. Sorry to hear.
