so you prefer your fug on the far side of the tank. My last fug was in the middle of the sump. Benifits for having the fug in the far side?

What do you think? This is my design in Google Sketchup.

(right to left) It uses a 10g tank with Bioballs under the 3 filter media cartridges, then a Visi-Jet protein skimmer(suggested for up-to 70g), next a bubble trap 1" (I may change this to 1.5") apart, and an Eheim return pump, model #1048.

The fuge will be either another 10g or a 6g with a DSB, chaeto and mangroves.

This all uses 3/4" PVC plumbing

That looks nice...mine will be a bit different with return in the middle. I'm still looking for measurements of glass to use as baffles for either a 20L or 30L...anyone?

11 3/4" is the Width you would want for the 20L.. As for hight that is up to you. Just make sue you leave some room for when the power goes out. I did 2 8 1/2" baffles and 2 9" baffles.

Do you have that Visi-Jet skimmer already? I've been told it doesn't work very well at all.

NO, I do not already have the Visi-Jet. While I have seen a few reviews suggesting it as "not a good skimmer" or "difficult to use", while I've seen many others.
"Just as good as the big dogs!"
"Great skimmer. Awesome for the cost"

    Is AquaEuro a good brand?

    Thank you!

    Thanks so much!

I went to Lowe's to see if they cut glass, and they do. But I'm not sure if it's thick enough...I need at least 1/4" thick glass, right? They also have acrylic and Lexan...has anyone used Lexan before?

Still, I'd only use that one for a tank without a sump. Since you have a proper sump, you can run a better in-sump skimmer.
