20 gal-tall fuge sump

    hey all i wanna start a DIY fuge and sump i got a55 gal-long reef tank is 20 gall enough?

    Yes that should be fine. Many use 10 gallons for the same thing.

    ok now i gotts to figuare out exactly howi wanna do it i checked yours out........ ill try and get a diagram of what i got in mind and post it for coments and sugestions . im layed off for a week..... so looks like my wife is gonna gripe......need some plumbing supplys....i have been to the hw store several times lately( brain storming) i should have plenty of time to build!

    yes, the 20 will be the perfect size for the 55, it also has enough space for a good skimmer and decent size fuge.

    I did mine pretty simple, bought 1/4" acrylic at Lowe's and had them cut it to size. Just figured out what height the baffles needed to be to have room for backflow in an outage.

    i know its pretty basic im wanting to use myexisting filter too....maybe a 2 level gravityfed deal with my sump in my fuge .....

    I tried to do something similar with my original setup with the fuge draining into a 10 gallon sump below it, in the end it was more work than it was worth, so I ripped it all out and redid the sump with the skimmer compartment on the left and the fuge on the right. Both overflow to the center chamber and get pumped to the skimmer and the DT.
