20 gal long sump

I'm thinking about making a sump for my 20 gal long reef tank.
I'm not sure if I want to use my spare ten gal tank or buy another 20 long.
Can anyone recommend an overflow box or pump. I'm not sure what size I should use. I have a good idea as far as a design and I plan on building a refugium. Any input will help. Thanks guys.

 

Best bet is to drill the tank & use a glass-holes overflow. Their Super Nano Overflow should be plenty for your 20. Pump size will depend on where you plan on keeping the sump & amount of head you need to overcome.
I'd go with the 20 long as the sump since that will give you plenty of room for a skimmer.

 

Second on the Glass-holes.com overflow. I just added their SuperNano con Dientes oveflow kit to my 34g Solana. This is what it looks like:

 

Can't drill the tank. It's already set up and full of livestock.

You could go with a Mame style overflow if you want to retain a clean look. I've seen a handful of DIY versions if you don't want to fork over ~$180 for the brand name, or you might be able to find a knock-off.
