Honestly that way is kind of a waste. There is no reason to run two pumps. That's just more heat, noise, and energy that are wasted.

This is how I would do it:

Just some extra PVC and a ball valve and you would be good to go. No extra pumps. And a lot less flood risk. Plus if you're running water up the sump, you putting water into it that has already been skimmed and everything, it would be kind of a waste there also.

Very good points as long as there is a ball valve right before the new fuge this would work much better.

You could return the new pump you ordered.
