dude your tank is too small for one betta! let alone two! at least 10-15 gallons. you have plenty options with tetras guppies etc. to keep in that tank. theres a reason fish stores have bettas in separate little tubs is because they will kill each other! with a betta in that tank i wouldnt put anything else in it untill you can take it back.

I have to disagree with everyone saying that a 5.5G tank is to small for one betta. I have a male betta in my Fluval Chi and it swims around all the time and is making a nest. It is very happy and healthy. you do not need a 10G tank for a betta. The fish will be more active given a larger tank, but it is not needed. Keep the betta and don't put anything else in the tank.

i agree with xmetalfan. if theres saltwater fish that you can keep in a 10 gallon then a betta does not need a 10 gallon. a 5.5 gallon is way more then most people use, not saying its right but you always see thoes 1 gallon bowls and betta tanks that pet stores sell. i think a 5.5 gallon is a pretty good size compared to other options

i think some of the people have to be thinking your talking about the Marine Betta... which is saltwater. not the fresh water betta. 5.5 gallons is a nice home for a freshwater betta
