How are you mixing your new salt water for the WC?

After you mix it thoroughly, you need to let it sit for about a day to let it fully dissolve. If you mixed it and then put it in your tank, that could cause problems too.

depends on how advanced you are.

My reef tanks that are well establish i dont even change the water. i add to it when it is low or when the water parameters get out of range.

For your tank, you want to change around 25% every 2 weeks. Remember to check your water parameters and make sure they are within norms and if not then do a water change.

To do a water change you want to start with freshwater, add your salt mix, allow it to mix, test with the hydrometer to make sure it is around 1.020-1.025 specific gravity or 33PPT. Then you might need to buffer it depending on the ph of your tap water.

Generally speaking you want to do weekly water changes on a FOWLR set up, but on a reef tank every 2 weeks. Once it is well establish then i just end up changing it once every 2 months to never. But it all depends on your level and the tank
