    i want to keep a large number of fish in my 135 gallon planted tank.

    what will be the best african cichlids for me to get?

    I think cichlids will tear up plants pretty good. They also like brackish water. FYI.

    african cichlids are really cool but they are with out a dought the meanest cichlids i have ever owned and i have had jack dempsey, jewel, severum, texas, firemouth, and convicts cichilds.
    also the only plants you can keep are java ferns cuz they dont like the taste and they root themselves to rocks

    I think you meant the american cichlids are more aggressive.

    Cichlids are not brackish. Also, like stated above, the only plant you can put with them is java fern.

    what about elodea? It doesn't need to be planted(well at least not in my teachers tank lol:p)
