I am in the process of building my own stand, after several hours of measuring, remeasuring, cutting, remeasuring again, I still happen to have made my stand 5 inches to deep (in other words if I tried to lay the tank on the stand it would fall in it  )

I took the idea on how to build my stand from here:
125 gallon aquarium stand build thread - MonsterFishKeepers.com

In the link, the person who was making their stand had 2x4 beams running across the 2x6s which I was trying to prevent unless that is really the only way without adding more weight then what has to be there.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks for your help,

    Mark

I know what you mean, the deeper part was just not an option because of the support that was required from the frame of the stand. It was the only way to keep the tank flush with the frame was to keep it the same size. As for taller I deff wish I did, the height is great just need more room under for the sump.

Adding a top shelf/base would be the easiest option, just use a decent sized board--maybe 5/8" or 3/4" thick.
