Hey guys I just set up a 375g tank with live sand and 400lb of live rock. I throwed a shrimp in there for acoupledays and took it out my params are

    Ammonia 0
    Nitrite 0
    Nitrate 5
    Phosphate skyrocket!

Is phosphate suppose to be really high in a new tank? And should I do a wc or just let the bacteria grow

this is my 135g reef tank. enjoy. atm i dont have time to drive to take pics of the 375G tank but ill post pics sometime next week! and sorry for the bad quality its from a phone camera ********** THIS IS NOT THE ONE WITH THE CYCLE, OR PHOSPHATE, THIS TANK HAD VERY BAD NITRATE ISSUES BUT GOTTEN IT UNDER CONTROL WITH ECOBAK PELLETS AND LOTS OF WC, CLEANING ROCKS, AND SOME TLC

Leaving a single shrimp in a 375g for a week was probably not enough load to cause a cycle.

What did you fill your tank with? If it was tap water that is where the phosphates are coming from but you will also see them with a new tank and the cycle.

Seriously though, when you say a couple of days, did you mean like 2 days? And what kind of rock was it?
