There's a reason they call RO/DI water "hungry water." It's so pure, things melt right into it. (in a manner of speaking)

Ok i added half my epsom salts today, couple of questions/

1-bit later on can i add some calcium buffer because mines at 350pmm for a couple of days, and i can tell my corals are all looking a bit worse for wear, either being deprived of a certain mag/calc /alk or due to me putting all these chemicals in the tank. whatever the reason their starting to look bad...

2-no that i added half the epsom in theory this should bring my mag up to 1240, so if i add some calcium will this now hold it, and my alk stay stable (not drop)?

You might want to test your mag before adding any alk or calc to the mix.

If it were me I'd get my mag up to 1500 first, then work on calc and mag. Maybe someone else can chime in here. Also, some would say it's probably ok to bump 360 ppm in one day. (1140 to 1500) I've read where Jason McKenzie said to dump the whole mag buffer in at one time, and I trust him.

put the second lot of epsom salts in, let it mix in the tank a hour and half, then tested.i,ve used 500g altogether today, and its raised it from 1140ppm to 1320ppm.
Tomorrow i am going to start adding the reef advantage calcium from SEACHEM...
