1 dead fish and another sick:(

Woke up this morning to a dead fish and my firefish will probably not make it either.

I think its ick, never had it before.

If its ick, how long before replacing the fish, 5 weeks?

 

Looks like ich to me. I usually say 6-8 weeks to be safe.

 

Thats what I thought.
My firefish is not going to make it.

 

The fire fish are very tough against ick, but it does look like your fish has ick. If the fish is till eating, there is a chance. What is the temperature of your water?

 

Both fish were active and eating very well. Woke up yesterday to 1 dead and by the night the firefish was dying.

It happened very quickly. Very sad

My temp was 81

 

It's hard to say from the picture whether it's ich or not imo - that's awfully fast for ich to kill a fish......how long have you had them?

 

My firefish was in the tank since Sept, the other fish 1 week.

There were spots on the firefish, some scale roughage, and a cloudiness on the eye.

I hated losing the purple firefish. It was a beauty. Now the tank looks so bare and it will be for months. Thats what sucks
