HELP ...Ive had my zoas since March ...my first corals ater a 3 year livestock only tank. Theyre faded pink now but were pink with slight green in the center when new. Also the cilia have shortned and seem allot finer. Theyre were spreading but have thinned out ...this has been over the last month. Xenis, anemone and dusters are thriving tho. Pic attached ...this frag was covered more densely when I purchased it. Pic taken today, after the light was on for 1 minute.

They look bleached to me. What is your light schedule like?
How long per day and what type of lighting do you have and how close to the top of the tank are the zoas located?

I run Coralife 50x2 65 watt, 7.5 hrs 4pm-11:30pm. 2 Blue LED moonlights, 4 hours 11:30pm-3:30am. The zoas are 8.5" from the tanks top ...the lights are 2.5" above that ...total of 11 inches from the lights.

How old are your PC bulbs? zoas stretch like that because there is some sort of problem. Either not enough light, not enough of the correct spectrum, ect. I would def blame your lights. Looks like that rock has been moved a lot too by the way all of those zoos are growing.

I have some pesky white palys growing on a nice zoa rock that look exactly like those. some have green dots in the center, but the majority are just plain white. I have had to remove my zoa colony last month and use tweezers to thin them out as they were shadowing my nice zoas, and there growing back fast.

I would say you have white palys that are growing normally. The rock might look thinned out because there getting taller to get more light and spreading out.

I would have to agree that they are palys.

Oh, Palys ...Im still a beginner coral keeper ....Im unfamiliar with palys ...are they a type of zoa? Are the good for my tank? When I bought them, I was told that they will multiply and produce 1/2 the amount in 6-9 months. Mine havent, but perhaps thats good based on iLLwiLLs post ...?

I had a small colony of hidden zoas just like that on my LR that popped out after 8months of being in my tank. They were bleached because they were hidden in the rock, but my puffer ended up eating them anyhow.
