I brought home my new pleco on sunday, he was extremely active and sucking on everything. The next day I noticed he was laying on the bottom not moving much, very lethargic, and not sucking. I noticed a slight white line, semi fuzzy on his left side. I performed a %25 water change and kept an eye on him as I was unsure of what it was (ich, bacterial infection, or fungus). The next day I checked all of my water parameters i.e. ph, ammonia, chlorine, nitrate, and hardness and everything was perfect (still is). The white streak has grown a bit though my pleco seems slightly more active today. Does anyone know what this is??? Thanks.

Alright so today I've noticed more ich like symptoms (salted look) so I'm pretty sure it's ich with a secondary infection because of the ich perhaps? I did another 25% water change and started to treat with crypto-pro. Its now been 15hrs since the first dose and the pleco seems a slight bit more active but definitely still sick. I'll keep updating the plecos status as I continue treatment.

I have a heater and the temp is 78 in the tank. Altough it is too late, the little guy didnt make it through the night.

IME its rare for a pleco to get ich since they are armored. Most losses with pleco's are from starvation/stress from being shipped across the county/world and are very vulnerable for the first two weeks until you can get some algae in their diet.
