I brought this guy home last week from the LFS, and He was fine no spots or anything.
I had the rocks put in and things happen to start happening with him/her. It started with a big white scratch looking on its side ( From the top to the bottom of its side). so I let it go and now the white is gone and its turning in to a grey/brown color. There is nothing in the eyes, or the fins.
I read everywhere and he has no symptoms. He eats well, he does not rub against rocks, he is not shy, he does not stay in the bottom or the top.
    The water perimeters are
    Kh-12.5
    ph-8.1
    ammonia-0.0
    nitrite-0.0
nitrate- 30ppm ( It will go down tonight)
Nobody else in the tank, No frags (not yet)

I am thinking its just a battle wound with the lr i put in. Any thoughts?

I believe you are thinking of ich. "IF" in fact it’s a type of fungus infection it will just eat away at the skin. Was the fish injured when you got him, that you could see anyway? Fungus infections are normally secondary infections. But I would wait till some of the other guy/gal to chime in before taking my non-Doctor prognosis .:-/

Yea i think you are right. I did some research and Thats the only thing that could be. It might of been injured while moving and now its infected.
I did not find out if It will get other fishes sick. I cant catch the little guy so I have to dose him in the tank.

As you said its a good thing nobody else is in there but it would be good to hear from others as to how the water is going to be affected by your meds in the tank EVEN THOUGH nobody else is in the tank. I'm referring to the long term effects.

Best of luck I hope he keeps his positive attitude and pulls through.

don't dose anything. Its a $3 damsel dont ruin your tank dosing with copper or anything like that.
if anything buy selcon and or garlic guard, they are just supplements you soak the food in and it will boost the fishes immune system. worked for my clown.

I will not dose, It will be better in the long run when i add corals and such. I don't know what will happen to the fish but I will feed it and take care of it.
