My first clam. A crocea. So I am inexperienced with them.

Providing a before and 2 "present" pics. It got like this 2 days ago and hasn't cleared up. It is maybe 4" across or more. not a small one.

I have 2 clowns and a blenny. I have not witnessed any harassment at all. The clam responds well to light and movement.

Also, I don't know what a proper amount of mantle extension is... so I don't know if it's out too far or not, but the white spots is what is really worrying me.

Also, I did dip it for 18 minutes in FW with pH and temp to match DT before I put it in tank.

here's a tank shot to show relative placement of the clam

The lighting period is currently reduced since I added the clam and a few SPS. I have been increasing it back to norm lately...

Thinking maybe I should just go ahead and increase the light period all the way (thining maybe too little light :confused:)

Colors seem to be fading rapidly. The fw dip probably stressed it out, and probably too little lighting.

I've heard of white spot disease (Perkinsus marinus in clams but it's supposed to be pretty rare. People that did have it dropped the temp down to 74-75f and increased the photo period to 12 hours. Have you counted the white spots to see if they've moved or multiplied?

Croceas have a very high level of light requirement. Maybe you could try moving him a tad higher or has his byssal anchored already?

I would try to move it to he brightest spot in your tank. It looks as though the bright white rock on the left is the highest point and getting the most light. I have a crocea clam also with the T5 lights and it is doing really good, so yours should be doing good. I dont know about the FW dip though, I didnt dip mine when I bought it about 1 1/2 years ago. I know I placed mine as high as I could without it being out of water when I turn everything off. Hopefully it starts looking better. As far as mantle expansion goes the first pic looks good but not quite so good in the #2 and #3 photos.

I suspect that if it was not getting enough light, it would expand its mantle more, not less. I have no idea what to make of those faded spots though. What kind of blenny have you got? I ask because some are known to nip at clam mantles.
