As in my other I am re-setting up my reef tank... I once again have hit a snag i have a current nova extreme pro t5 fixture and not much room under my canopy. i could hang it in the canopy but it is rather heavy and will likely break the top. im a college student and cannot pay 500 dollars per fixture for leds. can anyone help me find a lightweight light that i can use on my reef tank.

75 gal. And I'd rather not build it. The one I have was built to match the stand.

how about cutting a hole to match the size of the fixture and mounting the fixture on top of the canopy? if the canopy is a low rise one and has a hinged top on it , remove it and build a couple of braces to support the fixture inside the canopy without the top on it.

That fixture is well worth building another canopy. That's a really nice T5 fixture and if you find a "lighter" one you'll most likely be sacrificing in quality. You've got good options given to you so it's up to you to decide. I vote new canopy or hang it.

I wouldn't do MH under your canopy.

I have metal halide and T5 under my canopy but I run a chiller. Best combo in my opinion for a reef.

I was thinking the chiller would make MH in the canopy ok but I didn't know since I don't have experience with a chiller.
