I moderate 2 local car forums and we have experienced both of these types of spam. Luckily, they aren't huge sites with mountains of traffic or I'd be up to my ears in perma-bans and IP blocking. I'll be sure to report anything I deem unfit.

I've been doing it every time I spot it. But I am shocked to find that PMs are not visible to the mods. I was always under the impression that PM's were not P to mods. Maybe you ought to change that. I have no problem with you reading mine. The only ones that would have something to hide. You know, like only a drug user doesn't want to take a drug test!

Pms everywhere are private. Typically the numver of pms is greater than the number of public posts on a forum. The sheer volume would be crazy. Potentially, a more effective idea would be to require 5 or 10 posts to access pm functionality.

I don't smoke drugs or do pot, but I don't want to take a drug test...I have poor aim. ;D I have been reporting whenever I see. PMs should be available to mods in my opinion.

The PM is available to a mod if it's reported. There's the same type of report button in PM's as there is on each and every forum post.
