in terms of algae I simply feed my tangs nori, the same stuff you buy to make sushi. make sure its not seasoned though. I blend it together with the rest of my fish food recipe and occasionally hand feed small square sheets as a "treat"

dont have any experience with gels and what not

Nori plus Rods or nori plus make your own food. Every time I switch away from that regimen for any length of time I see signs of malnutrition. With it I have fat, happy fish.

Well guys nori is fine, but i cant make my own food since im a vegetarian. Though i dont mind feeding the fishes frozen shrimp. Well since nls is the best brand, so thought wud feed them that, and also its low at po4 which iv read in a few blogs. Nutrigel and algaegel seemd to be somthing different and also good for finiki fishes, so thoight. Also reviews of hikari marine s were good. Tlf seaweeds/algae of different colours also looked good. So asked. Whats the meaning od seasoned nori? Here the jus give frozen in packets.

unfortunately chances are your fish will not share the same moral life choice as you and will need a varied diet. if youre ok with feeding frozen shrimp (and forgive me if i sound silly or rude as i really know little about being a vegetarian) why wouldn't you be able to to blend those frozen shrimps with a small piece if cod and a couple of clams...and nori...? you then freez the goo and you have a reserve of fish food that will last you months.

I thouroughly respect your choice though, especially if you dont want to buy the ingredients because you want to "boycott" over fishing. there are brands out there that "insure" a sustainable fishing practice though if im not mistaken.

I'm guessing Nano, being from India, may have something more than sustainable fish in mind though theres no reason not to do it for either, both, or many reasons.

Nano, dried foods and Hikari both left my fish developing HLLE, losing color and weight, and looking stressed. I don't think I can overstate the benefits of a quality varied diet. I really prefer cubes to other frozen food packaging so while I can't appreciate all your frustration with the effort you have to go to, I do get a small part of it. You really need a good varied blend. Rods Reef food works for me here in the states. If it has to be dried I'd give Reef Roids and Mr. Chili a try. Much better the fresh frozen mix though. If you can do it yourself, mix fish, oysters, shrimp, clams and squid or as much as you can get of those. Add some cubes of mysis, cyclopeeze, nori, and brine fish eggs (decapped).

If you can't and there is nothing good available, can you talk a fishmonger into making you a nice puree of fresh products and freezing them for you in small ice trays? You can warm the back of the tray, pop the cubes out and freeze them for use in a sealed tub.

You definitely have to go a bit further for your fish given your restrictions. Thanks for making the effort!

Well iv been a vegetarian since birth, but its not the same for my pets. I dont mind feeding them anything. The problem is my parents dont allow me to keep nonveg in the freezer, though i can manage keeping frozen mysis (which are better? Pe or hikari?) Somehow. Also i prefer keeping only pellet eating fishes rather than those finiki ones. I came across nutrigel and algaegel of nls, and well thot something like that wud be a really good food for fishes like dwarf angels. I only buy quality food. Another thing is i hate experimenting on these beautiful fishes, so i never buy fishes before researching on them. Im stressing on food coz iv never kept angels. Max are clowns tangs and blennies. This time planning on gobies and angels. So researching. I dont wana buy unless im a 100% sure they will thrive in my tank and not jus survive. Hobbyist like u guys have helped me alot before.

Before i wud feed nori, cyclopeeze, algae wafers and ON formula 2. Nothing else. once a week fresh garlic juice soaked pellets.

This time i am planning on NLS thera A small, cyclopeeze, mysis (managing it from uk), ON formula 2 flakes and once a week hikari algae wafers.

What u guys wud have chosen if u were in my place. Please help.. thanks

NLS algaemax, NLS finicki fish, NLS thera A and frozen mysis. This is what im finally planning. Making blend and keeping it is a bit difficult as of now. So selected this. Are these ok?
