If any of you haven't seen my other thread, you should check it out, but to save you some time it is about me raising 3 snowflake morays and hoping to breed them; and this is an update.

It seems like two moray eels of mine started to "pair off." I could be wrong, but they are sharing the same hole in a rock as a burrow. There are plenty of other places but they both share one hole and get along very good, so i am just thinking that they might be starting to pair off. So this is good news, but with all good news in this hobby comes bad news.

Today I went into my room to check them out after work and I noticed one was sitting out in the open, curled into a ball. Well it was dead and it was shredded up by another one of my eels. It was the oddball (aka it wasn't one of the two in the hole). I fed them last night when all three were fine, but my first suspicion was still that they were hungry enough to eat him. I dropped in a piece of krill today just to see if they were hungry and neither of them bothered even eating it because they were full. I examined the eel some more because they might have just been full from eating parts of my eel, but there were no chunks out of him, just his skin shredded off. So this means that they did not kill him for food. So I am thinking it was a territorial issue or he just said a racial joke.

lol but in all seriousness, I am thinking that his death isn't the worst thing because it may be a start to my eels pairing off. So for now, I am looking on the bright side and hoping that these eels will mate eventually. If I get a whole litter of eels, it will avenge that one's death. Wish me luck guys.

Good luck, I hope you've got your live food cultures ready for when the eel larvae appear.
