Triton?

Has anyone tested using this method or begun the process? If so what was your experience?

Is this the latest and greatest fad in the hobby?

I've used it. I'm happy with my Zeovit, so I don't use the "Triton method," but high quality lab tests are a good thing.

While there's some reason to be skeptical that they're delivering numbers as precise and accurate as they claim, I'm confident their tests are way better than anything we can do at home and therefore a good reference back once in a while to make sure you're not missing something important.

I get my Zeovit products from BRS. If you do decide to try it, stick to the basic method and don't get caught up in dosing all the supplements:

Do you have any details of what all you use Zeovit wise on your tank thread or anywhere else? I have been looking into it but have not really been able to read about anyone's personal experience with it as of yet.

 

My personal experience is very positive. Here's my current dosing in brief:

In a 140g tank I use 1.25bags of zeolite I change every 45 days. I run this in an Avast Vibe reactor. Manual reactors are the standard and work well, but I like automatic.
I dose 6 drops of ZeoBak daily after the zeolite change for 12 days. The rest of the time I does 6 drops every three days.
I dose about 0.6 ml of ZeoStart daily through a BRS auto doser on my Apex.
I dose 6 drops of Sponge Power every 3 days.
I dose their coral food (Coral Vitalizer) daily.
I change my small bag of carbon monthly.

I don't want to go into too much here and run a hijack, but I've listed it to emphasize I think ZeoVit works best when it's kept simple. The other stuff is there only when you clearly need to fix a problem or boost a color.

It turns out ZeoVit and Triton are actually largely compatible except for the phodphate remover in triton. Triton seems like a great way to check up on your tank regularly, and they have solutions for problems that are helpful. As a basic system to maintain an ecosystem though, it doesn't feel like the nice stable equilibrium we want to achieve.
