    F. I forgot about the coral. It's been 30 min. Ugh....I'm an idiot.

I just put it into the clean tank water (in a bowl). It will be OK?

Oh my god. I think I killed it. The monti is very brown with red stuff on the tips...shouldn't have left it in the dip for so long. This is so frustrating.

Sorry to hear that. Do you plan to frag it?

Would I be able to save the brown part if I frag off the rtn?

Maybe. Usually you want to frag at least a cm from the necrosis. Are the frags big enough? Sometimes frags smaller than an inch or so, don't seem to do as well IME either... It's a tough call in that case, but if you think it's doomed, it may be worth it. How fast is the necrosis spreading? If it's RTN, then you sort of need to decide right away, as waiting too long, you may end up too late. It sounds to me more like stn though, as if it was rtn, the coral would likely have disintegrated within a few hours to a day or so. STN is a little more forgiving IME.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Sorry Seano.

This stuff happens with sps. I have killed many a birds nest.

Some people can jump right into sps, but I was not one of them. It took me a few tries to get it down even after keeping other stony corals for a number of years.

Keep on keeping on, it will happen.

It's been a day or two already, so it must be stn. The frag is a few inches across.

So, frag it and dip again (for 10 min) ?

    It's about 2" across and 1" wide.

TN is spreading at the growth tips now quite a bit. It's hard to tell it that is TN also, or if it is just rapid loss of zoox, due to the high amount of iodine it was in? That part isn't as 'white' as the circle I had earlier.

I'm afraid I will lose this guy.

I will be out of town for 5 days. I have ordered some Coral ReVive from Marine Depot, in hopes of saving this coral and doing it correctly. It should arrive within a day or two. I am going to show my dad how to do it so he can frag it when the stuff gets here.
