    we have chemists here? do tell... :) I am horrible with this stuff, and I would never trust myself to have done it right by I find it interesting. (the dosing I can handle, but cooking a chemical is another thing)

    tbaquatics.com otherwise known as smartreef.com (but you can only purchase thru tbaquatics.com). You can buy it in LARGE quantities. They used to have 1lb sizing, but I'm not seeing it right now.

    bulkreefsupply.com you can buy either mag. chloride or sulfate in small quantities. Calcium chloride too. They also sell soda ash but why spend that much money when a box of Arm&Hammer is less than $3 and makes two gallons. 2 1/4 cups baked in the oven on a cookie sheet @ 300* for an hour drives off the moisture and c02. Mix it with a gallon of ro and you have a potent alkalinity supplement. ;)

    I knew he sold it but have never really looked into his prices. Guess I'll take my own advice and do a little price comparing. LOL

    Just to let you know Reefmonkey, I'm using your advice on my 90 gallon reef build as well as my current Hex...taking it slow and cutting corners. K+ Again awesome thread!

    What! You paid practically the same for your mantis skimmer as I did for mine... only mine was brand new, a different brand... and sucks.

    Actually the Eshopps does to well for the little mantis build. It really pulls the gunk out and isn't even completely broke in yet. I'm going to leave it on the reef. I'm going to pull the reefocto 100h out of the sump and mod it to work on the mantis tank build.
