The sensational headline on the article linked below is misleading, this car does not actually run on saltwater, but it is unique in that it uses saltwater as the catalyst or electrolyte to help power its hydrogen fuel cell motor. The Quant e-Sportlimousine holds over 100 gallons of saltwater in its tanks to give it a range of 373 miles before refueling. And it's fast. Very fast with a top speed of 217mph. It will take you longer to say the name of the car than for the car to go 60mph (2.8 seconds!). The drivetrain is made by NanoFlowcell AG and they claim it has 5 times the energy capacity of lithium-ion batteries of the same weight. Of course, this high tech is not cheap and there is speculation this car will cost nearly 2 million dollars. But let's hope that comes down in time. Currently the e-Sportlimousine is being tested on public roads in Europe.

Seriously. Just imagine if they figure out how to cut the amount of saltwater down. 100 gallons x 8 lbs = 800 pounds. If you could cut that in half and save 400 pounds, that would make this a rocket ship.

and.. watch the other two videos.. SUPER cool. But honestly, thats not bad considering the weight of a conventional V-6 of V-8 plus the fuel. I know my truck holds 32 gallons. Ouch.

Dang! That car is sick! Goes as fast as an Aventador and costs over half a million more than a Pagani!

That is one of the sweetest rides I have seen in a long time. I love the design work. Not to mention the 920HP.

I feel like this car has been designed just to rival Ferarri's La Ferrari, McLaren's P1, and Porsche's 918.

While the concept is cool, if I were to spend 2 million dollars on a car, I'd want it to sound and look like I spent 2 million. The engine noise rivals that of a prius. I see design ideas from Koenigsegg, Mercedes, Audi, and some Fisker, and, to be honest, if this car was powered by a conventional gas V6-V8 engine (with appropriate power outputs to match) it would only go for at most $100,000. I'm not usually one for flashy cars but for the price tag, I'd expect more, at least from the rear design.

Not trying to rock the boat or anything. This concept is great, and would probably greatly reduce carbon dioxide emissions, if they made a version available to the every day person.

ya just think all that water we toss during a water change might be useful.
but what they need to do is see if they can make a work vehicle like a truck, that has power not just speed.
and like any new tech it will be $$$$ but its just like LED's and what not when they first came out $$$ but as the they perfect it the $$$ will drop

I don't beleive that it's real. I noticed little if any mainstream news reporting on this. If those power numbers are real, why are we not using this technology as propulsion for boats, military vehicles, or even powerplants!
