Remember to change PC, T5, and MH bulbs every 8-12 months to prevent "yellowing" and excessive algae growth.

Spread the wealth around; if you have big colonies frag them and trade to other reefers, IF your tank crashes, they may be generous enough to send some back.

Nothing wrong with buying used equipment, having the newest top of the line stuff isn't always best, especially versus tried and true things.

Avoid fluorescent light fixtures, spend the little extra for LEDs or metal halides.

Cheap prices usually means cheap equipment.

You won't be an expert overnight, it will take years of fish keeping and research and even then most don't consider themselves anywhere close to expert.

When setting up a tank, remember a smaller tank will save you money on equipment and rock, but will also be more difficult to maintain. Find the happy medium of size and cost.
