Hey so I'm on my way to pick up my TearDrop Clam.

Anyone have any tips or tricks for these little guys?

    Thanks,

    Chris

Make sure you "burp" it before placing it. Basically just rotate it around under water in your tank to ensure no air bubbles got trapped inside.

When moving a clam they can go sexual so get a large bag to transport so if it sprays eggs or whatever it is, there is plenty of saltwater to offset it. (probably not that big of a deal if it's not a very large clam)

    Thanks Grim!

It's a 3" clam, I'll make sure to have a large amount of water to offset any issues on the trip home.

I have heard of "burping" but most people think its a myth. I dripped mine for about an hr and then placed him in the tank. You'll be fine!

Yup, that's the Byssus filaments; what most people call the "foot".

Those will attach to whatever rock you place it on within a few days.

Nothing to worry about. Actually a good thing, since it means they weren't torn off (bad).
